This module is designed to introduce students to the "Big Bang" theory of the birth and expansion of the universe, the Hubble constant, and "standard candles" such as Cepheid variable stars. It is designed for grades 8-12, and utilizes the World Wide Web as the primary source of both background information and data. It can be used as a whole-class, group, or individual investigation. It is intended to supplement an existing curriculum in cosmology and astronomy. It contains text, data sets, color images, short animation sequences and movies in .avi, .mpg, and .gif format. This module was created by Gary K. Webber as part of a Masters of Education project at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas.
