During the next class period you will return to the lab to use these two measures of speed and distance to calculate the rate of expansion and the age of the universe. The rate of expansion is known as the Hubble constant (HO). This proportion expresses the increase in radial velocity of objects at greater and greater distances from us. It is normally measured in kilometers per second per megaparsec, or k\s\Mpc.
