Another picture from UC graduation of my daughter Emma and me (May 1990).

The younger generation: nieces Mylitta and Misty Hobby, and my daughter Emma (Christmas 1992).

This is a picture of my parents, George and Frances Hobby, on the occasion of their 50th anniversary, October 8, 1990.

I was born and raised in Prunedale California. This is a picture of the side yard of the house where my mother still lives. Even though she is in her 80's, she still goes out and putters in the garden. My mother lives over the hill and down the road a little ways from the house my grandfather built and where she was born. Prunedale is a little community about 10 miles north of Salinas.

Question: What is George studying?

Question: What happened to the chairs in the picture?

Check out Emma's sweatshirt --- it is an eclipse of the sun and promotes the nifty Hands on Universe Project at LBNL (work-related plug).
Larger version of the same picture.
Another midsize version of the same picture, but I was playing with the color of the sweatshirt.

Emma's friend Pieter Snapper had a piece he composed played in Carnegie Hall in November 1994. Family and friends gathered (pictures provided).

This is a picture of my friend Marge Hutchinson on a horse at Buck's Lake, summer 1995 (larger). Marge is the one who coaxed me up Buck's mountain.

Here is Richard Kuiper, Dutchman, participating in the Particle Adventure.

My friend and colleague, Gary Wagman, died of AIDS in April 1995 having lived with the illness for over 11 years. Several of his friends and family members held a memorial to him on October 8, 1995 at the Pinnacles National Monument, a place that had great spirtual meaning to him. We all miss him greatly.
